It is a methodology that combines the best of both Lean and Six Sigma frameworks. Popularly known as 'Lean Sigma' it is used to eliminate waste in ways defined by Lean and improves processes using Six Sigma. It empowers companies to be more efficient and has the potential to drive near-defect-free and significantly better quality products and services.

Lean Sigma has three levels of experitse as specified by the International Association for Six Sigma Certification (IASSC). From starter to expert these levels are Yellow Belt, Green Belt and Black Belt. Some employers or companies refer to exceptional knowledge of the framework using qualifiers like "Master". E.g; Master Black Belt or Master Green Belt or Mentor for Six Sigma Implementation. Some of such, like Master Black Belt, is often offered as a specialized course by some.
